A new CCTR voucher program, supported by Office of the Vice President of Research, is available to MIT researchers who are conducting human research studies and who have no funding or are underfunded. Three CCTR vouchers for up to $5000 of CCTR services will be awarded annually (fiscal year July 1 to June 30), with rolling applications. Only one voucher per lab is allowed annually.


  • Internal MIT research community
  • Graduate students, postdocs, or junior faculty members
  • Underfunded or have no current funding
  • Early proof of concept studies - data for NIH grant applications
  • COUHES approved protocol or protocol is in the process of obtaining COUHES approval


  • Access to newly renovated and expanded CCTR facility and services
  • Experienced clinical research professionals and research technical expertise
  • Access to secure data collection platform
  • Research design and implementation consultation
  • Operationalization of Human Research protocol
  • Support through the life cycle of COUHES approved protocol
  • Recipient of up to $5000 of CCTR services


  • To obtain a voucher, applicants provide:
  • The name of project
  • The lead PI/lab of research project
  • Brief overview of project, including:
    • Timeline for project initiation and completion
    • Number of research participants
    • Research support/data collection/staff (regulatory support, e-consent service, prototype development and/or 3D services clinician, technician, etc.)
    • Data collection to be performed in the CCTR or, with special CCTR approval, it can be performed by CCTR Clinical /technical research staff in the PI’s lab
    • Other information applicants deem significant for consideration
  • Review and Notification Process
  • Applications must be submitted via the link below
  • Only complete applications will be accepted and considered for the voucher
  • Completed applications will be routed to the CCTR Review Committee for consideration.
  • The CCTR review team meets monthly and will contact you with the status of your application.
  • If the voucher request is granted, applicants will be notified via email, including the total amount of the voucher and the expiration date
